Subject: My MP, My struggle
I am a Canadian citizen. I live in Washago, Ontario. I have recently been trying to get some answers out of my MP, Kellie Leitch, on Canada’s response to a number of important issues. I have asked her about Canada’s knowledge of NSA spying, as well as its involvement in the “Five Eyes” surveillance network. I have also tried to get information on Canada’s response to the Fukushima disaster.
To date, more than a month has passed, and I have received no substantive answers whatsoever. In fact, I have not been provided with a SINGLE piece of information, even to questions which are a matter of public record. This is extremely concerning to me, especially the Fukushima issue, as it is a major public health concern, and the actions I have seen from the Government do not at all reassure me that they are on top of it. We seem to have offered no help to Japan, and rather than increase radiation monitoring, we decreased it. I’m trying to confirm this, but if what I’ve read is right, someone in the Canadian Government has a tremendous amount of explaining to do.
To be honest, I am at a bit of a loss as to where to go next. I picked your name because you are one of the few MP’s I have heard speak and thought “Yeah, that’s right”, or “Give em hell Elizabeth.” Can you help me with this? I would be happy to provide my correspondence to date and bring you up to speed on what has happened (not much, just emails and a single phone call, mostly with me asking questions and them not responding.)
If you cannot help me with this, could you point me to someone who could? As I said I am at a bit of a loss here. I thought my MP, Kellie, was supposed to help, but that is apparently not how it works.
